About Us

Bourne Medicolegal Limited started in 1998, initially under the name of “The CATT Partnership”. We are a small team of professionals with over sixty years experience, between us, working in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS).

We are, Dr Malcolm Bourne, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist; Maria Farrar, Systemic Therapist; and Dr Ray Roth, Specialist Clinical Practitionert. Our professional backgrounds are, respectively, Medicine, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy, and we have undertaken further training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Psychopharmacology, Group Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Medicolegal Practice, and other fields.

At present, most of our work is in the medicolegal field, consulting to the Courts, via Solicitors and Guardians, on complex child care cases, and criminal cases requiring psychiatric assessment of young people. We also take on a small amount of clinical work, offering initial assessments, and some ongoing therapy. We provide some training and consultancy to groups as diverse as Lancashire Police, NHS Trusts, the Family Justice Council, and the University of Lancashire.

Medicolegal work is usually accessed by solicitors. We welcome clinical enquiries from families and professionals but require a referral from, generally, your General Practitioner. Organisations may also contact us directly, all via the contact tab at the top of this page or Click Here
